Yanick «Downwind» Glauser wins the first SDL 2019 race

A closely fought race was won by the Swiss German pilot Yanick “Downwind” Glauser, finishing ahead of English pilot Brett “CILLISionFVP” Collis and the Swiss French pilot Maxime “MadMax FPV” Guarnero.

The WIN4 AXA Arena in Winterthur proved itself as the perfect location for the first race of the 2019 Swiss Drone League season. The modern arena created an optimal experience for the visitors and the narrow track was responsible for spectacular crashes and tight races. In total, 1737 laps and 215 crashes were recorded.

The youngest pilot of the first tour stop of 2019 had his 13th birthday at the weekend. The age difference between the youngest and the oldest pilot was 35 years. We were also happy to have our first female contender in SDL history.

Approximately 3000 visitors found their way to the AXA Arena. The visitors were not only able watch the races, but at the Fun Park they could try out smaller drones, fly an FPV simulator, or experience a pilot’s point of view with special goggles. We would like to thank all our sponsors, especially Helvetia, Toshiba and Hörmann, and of course, all of the crew and our volunteers for the great work. We are already looking forward to the second race at the Tissot Arena in Biel/Bienne on the 7th & 8th of June 2019.
